On January 30, 1847, the will of Kinchen Edwards
of Edgecombe County be-
queathed land adjoining Jacob Robbins, (Jr.)
and Jacob D. Robbins was a
witness.
February 28, 1860
Jacob (x) Robbins, (Jr.) made his will in Edgecombe
County on February 28,
1860, and it was probated in November Court, 1861:
(1) Benjamin F. Robbins, the home tract of about
150 acres adjoining Kinchen Edwards;
(2) grandson Wells Daws, my brother Elisha Robbins's
old tract adjoining John Whitehead;
(3) daughter Polly, wife of William Adams, use
of 3 slaves;
(4) granddaughter Crecy, wife of Jordan Joiner,
reversional interest in slaves left to Polly Adams;
(5) daughter Nancy, wife of John Daws, use of
3 slaves, then to her children; gift of the proceeds from
the sale of 3 other slaves;
(6) granddaughter Mary Matilda, wife of Hilliard
Taylor, use of a slave, then to her children;
(7) granddaughter Susannah, wife of Frank Barnes,
use of a slave, then to her children;
(8) granddaughter Fanny, wife of William Proctor,
use of a slave;
(9) grandson Miles Daws, one slave;
(10) granddaughter Delilah Daws, one slave;
(11) granddaughter Nancy Daws, one slave;
(12) grandson Willis Daws, one slave;
(13) horse, buggy, cattle, and residue of the
estate to be sold; the notes and accounts to be collected;
after debts are paid,
all to go equally to the children of John and Nancy Daws;
executor R.H. Gatlin; witnesses R.H.
Gatlin, James S. Braswell, and Theophilus Moore.

Executor R. H. Gatlin made the following inventory
of the property of Jacob Robbins,(Jr.) on January 8, 1861:
wagon axletree, cart, barrel, some hoes, 3 shovels;
gray horse, cow and calf, heifer; razor and strap,
buggy and harness, umbrella, bed and stead, blanket,
3 counterpanes, chest, shot gun; 2 jugs, some bottles, chamber bucket,
pair of flat irons, some boxes and contents, tub, half-bushel; knives and
forks,
pitcher, decanter, iron pot, pot rack, dipper,
scraper; some old iron, 2 coulters, hames, cooper's tools, grindstone,
handsaw, 2 cut saws; 5 barrels of corn.

Purchasers at the public sale of the personal property
were:

Greenberry Williams, Penina Weaver, Jesse Dixon,
Alfred Daughtridge, John Daws, Miles Daws, Hill Daws, R. B. Davis, and
Miles Davis.
R. H. Gatlin reported that Jacob Robbins ,(Jr.)
owned 400 acres of land (the home tract 250 acres and the Dixon tract 150
acres) and 19 slaves. The cash on hand came to $162.71, the money realized
from the sale was $2,009.94, and the notes and claims totaled $2,158.28.
In February, 1867, Gatlin reported to the Edgecombe
County Court that the net amount of the estate since 1861 was $5,193.37.
